For 2015, Ceská Zbrojovka, or CZ, has decided that it will release its first ever CZ branded handgun to be manufactured in the United States. CZ decided to forgo their famous 75 model handguns and produce their first CZ branded 1911 in the United States.
For their first swing at a CZ branded 1911, CZ decided to go with a mostly traditional government sized A1 1911. The CZ 1911 is chambered in .45 acp, like the original John M. Browning design. CZ went with a forged carbon steel frame and slide combination, both coated in black oxide. The CZ 1911 sports the traditional 1911 barrel length, coming with a 5”match barrel. Unlike the original 1911 A1, the CZ 1911 does not have a lanyard loop, has checkered walnut grips, and slightly higher sights than the original speed bumps.
Since 2005, CZ has owned the Dan Wesson line of 1911s and it appears that they are trying to introduce 1911s that they manufactured in a lower price range. The CZ 1911 A1 has an MSRP of $849.00 USD. Are they going to be the overall quality of a Dan Wesson 1911? They probably won’t. At $849, they are offering a traditional styled 1911. There hasn’t been any announcement of further CZ branded 1911 models, but if there is success with their 1911 A1 model, there may be upgraded models in the future.
